4 Effortless Habits that Will Guarantee You Never Get a Flat Tire

One of the most important things you can do as a car owner is take good care of your tires. This is because over time, tires can take a real beating. Between driving at high speeds, and exposure to the elements, there are many different things that can gradually dilapidate tires until they cause safety problems on the road. Unfortunately, so many drivers don’t even realize that their tires need maintenance until something extreme happens, like a flat. Here are a few tips on how to ! get more mileage out of your car by taking good care of your tires:

1. Check Your Tire Pressure Weekly:
The moment you become responsible for a vehicle, make it a habit to know the factory-recommended tire pressure levels (PSI) and regularly fill them appropriately.

2. Perform Routine Visual Inspections:
Don’t wait for something bad to happen before you notice damage to your tires. Before every journey, take a close look at each of your tires to see if there are any cuts, scratches, or piercings from debris.

3. Take Care of the Spare Too:
Some drivers completely forget about the single most important tire in a car – the spare wheel. Every time you get an oil change, also check if the spare tire is in good working order.

4. Rotate Your Tires:
Tire rotation is a procedure in which a vehicle’s tires are swapped out with each other in order to establish even wear and tear over time. It’s advisable to rotate your tires either according to factory specs, or at least once every 5,000 miles.

Tires are an important part of driving safety. Always make sure that your tires have adequate tread and air pressure by checking them regularly. Some vehicles have computer systems which alert drivers when tire pressure or tread is low. However, it’s still much safer to perform due diligence on your own.
